Salam sejahtera kpd semua. At here, I'm not going to tell how good MMU Cyberjaya is, but to give an extra option to semua pelajar out there. By using MMU Cyberjaya as example, trying to prove that IPTS can be in your option list either.
First of all, I believe, no matter what races u are, mostly people will aim to get a scholar, joining IPTA, fly to overseas right after SPM, paling tak pun masuk matriks (mungkin sbb tgk senior masing2 dpt, diri pun nak ikut jejak). I do have those feelings once upon a time but what I can say now is it all depends on rezeki masing2.
I'm a non-bumiputera from Samura B31. SPM result not bad, but yet, I'm not qualify for matriks and only get an i-dont-know-when-i-put-it-as-an-option punya course for my IPTA at UPSI. And for non-bumiputera, you might be facing some problem in applying IPTA bcz our choice is only stuck at diploma. At first marah juga, rasa tak adil, susah2 belajar dapat result bagus tapi apa pun tak dapat but when time goes by, I realized, we don't call that racism. It is just something written in Perlembagaan Malaysia years ago that bumiputera has more opportunities than us.
After a lot of ups and downs, I'm finally in MMU Cyberjaya, an IPTS.
Grand Hall of MMU Cyberjaya (Dewan Chancellor) |
Faculty Of Engineering, MMU Cyberjaya |
So out of many IPTS, Why MMU Cyberjaya (note that other than in Cyberjaya, masih ada MMU Melaka and MMC (Multimedia College, Nusajaya))
Reasons:
- Nearby my house
- Affordable fees
- There are 50% waiver and 25% waiver depends on your SPM result
- Campus life
- An environment considered of 1 Malaysia
- Language used in campus
Reasons above are reasons before I'm in. In MMU Cyberjaya, the ratio of all races are almost equal. And most people think (especially those from SBP or MRSM etc) IPTS is some place rich people go, study semua biasa2 je. I'm taking foundation in Engineering currently and somehow, my class are all scholars from Yayasan Telekom Malaysia (who are mostly from SBP and MRSM) and they are smart enough and always will to share knowledge.
Besides that, MMU Cyberjaya ain't like other famous IPTS such as Taylor Lakeside or Sunway University which most students are rich. Students in MMU are mostly normal and even rich, they seldom show. Senang citer, how rich are u is not a benchmark for u to have friends.
Other than that, like what I mentioned before, u guys can considered Yayasan Telekom Malaysia(YTM). It provides 100% waiver for tuition fee and allowances. You can choose to live in hostel or not (hostel fee bayar sendiri). Well I'm not a YTM scholar so I can't provide much information, but YTM is a scholarship from MMU. YTM scholars need to study in MMU. Dgr cter la, benefits as YTM scholar byk sgt, so to those yg result bgus, u may consider YTM.
In the other hand, I preferred the language used in MMU. All the courses are taught using English and most people preferred communicate using English language (except after u have bestfriend gang of the same races). Even our orientation are all in English.
Not to forget the campus life here. I enjoyed the campus life here. There are many clubs and societies that you can be active in it. There are a lot event that you can join as a committee. In my opinion, soft skills is what most people look for in the future world, so I advice that everyone expose yourself in all activities no matter in which universities you are in. Handling event taught me a lot either other than just study and it proves that being active won't bring you away from four flat. You will realize that you will be better in time management. And the seniors are always willing to pass down their knowledge to you and help you to learn.
Although people called Cyberjaya a dead city, but Cyberjaya nowadays sudah maju. It has TGV, U-bowl, Karaoke, Fitness Gym, a lot of famous expensive cuisine and also a lot of mamak. It is also very easy to reach KL, Putrajaya. So if you want to shop and more exclusive shopping centre, it won't be a problem.
In MMU Cyberjaya, semua ada. Study ada, fun ada, soft skills ada. It depends on how you make use of it. So uolls out there, don't fed up if you didn't get any IPTA or Matriks or Scholar. Ada hikmah di sebaliknya. Now I do enjoy my life here. I believe other IPTS has different special thing that might attract you and even some IPTS preferred 100% waiver. Depends on your need, give yourself an extra option by putting IPTS into your list. Do more research in IPTS, maybe you will find that you will enjoy more in IPTS.
