Assalammualaikum and hello :) You’d probably here because
you just googled dentistry, A Level Kolej Teknologi Timur, JPA, etc. First of
all, before you read the rest of my post, I’d like to clear a few things.
Before this, I made a post but I decided to edit it back based on my emails I’d
received last year. This is my second post, completely updated. Okay, so the
programme which you’re gonna read later is one of the JPA-MARA programmes.
Since MARA is involved, this scholarship programme is for Bumiputera only and
the online application is available after SPM results. Also, this post is
specially dedicated to those who will pursue their A-Level in Kolej Teknologi
Timur, Sepang. This post was written by me after I’d receive the full A-Level
results. I haven’t gone to India, so I don’t know what it’s like to be in
India, and how hard dentistry course is,
I just haven’t faced it yet haha
So, about my KTT college. Basically it’s a really small
college, sbb tu ramai yg taktahu pasal kolej ni haha the location is about
15-20 minutes from KLIA and it’s beside UniKL Miat, separated by hills and
trees. Don’t be surprised when you come here. My college mcm rumah kedai senang
cerita lah. Don’t expect this college mcm Taylor’s, UM, UiTM ke haha since it’s
really small, the class is really near to your ‘apartment’. Wake up 5 minutes
before morning class, you’ll still manage to go to class. No need to wait for
buses, or climb a lot of stairs. No excuse ponteng eh
Talking about apartment, for A Level, 4 persons, 2 rooms per
apartment. Study tables are provided. The good thing is you can bring whatever
you want here. There’s no refrigerator, washing machine in the apartment but you
can bring them. Pakat pakat lah dgn housemates, ke dgn satu floor, satu floor 4
houses. If you have a driving license, car or motorcycle, you can bring them to
the college. It’s not a necessity but it eases your life in the college, a lil
bit. There’s no curfew here. Except sometimes you have to park your car outside
after 12 am. You can go out anytime you want, janji jangan ponteng kelas.
We have our tempat makan, but don’t expect much. You’ll know
once you come here. Ada mak cik meniaga nasi lemak and nasi kukus dkt depan
kolej, sedap but it only opens on weekdays. If you rajin jalan kaki, there are
a few restaurants nearby. Sekali sekala boleh makan sana. If you jenis memasak,
and nak save duit, you can cook in the apartment. Bring the induction cooker,
all that.
Nak beli groceries, here we have Giant, Tesco Nilai. Outing
places near here are Alamanda Putrajaya and iOi City Mall. If you plan to go to
TBS or KL, ERL Salak Tinggi and KTM Nilai are available. If you’ve never been
on a public transport, don’t worry you’ll learn it here. For those who don’t
have any transport, don’t worry we have pak cik, akak prebet, mcm uber driver lah,
who will pick you guys up.
To sport enthusiasts, you’ll be disappointed when you come
here, sports facilities kureng sikit ah. There are volleyball court, futsal
court, sepak takraw and there’s one empty court, idk what court it is haha but
people usually play badminton there, with no net. If you never played
volleyball and would like to try, maybe here’s a place to start.
About the classes here, for 1.5 years memang pack. Weekend
classes pun ada, because lecturers want to finish the syllabuses. Ada satu hari
memang full of classes, sampai tak sempat nak tidur, ada satu hari tu memang lapang gila, satu dua kelas je ada. Dgn
lecturer cancel class lagi, welcome to college life people! Library ada, and
the academic sources here are quite a lot. Kalau korang biasa beli buku
latihan, reference book zaman sekolah dulu, for A-Level sorry buku buku dia
memang mahal and limited kat luar. Pinjam dekat library je. For class,
coursebook je yg penting. Physics dgn maths tak pakai coursebook haha.
Now, the important part, the A-Level part. JPA dah decide
kena ambil A-Level, kenalah ikut kan. Ever heard of “jangan ambil A-level,
nanti menyesal”?. I’m sorry but that’s true haha but then nak tahu nanti you
menyesal ke tak, depends on your effort mcm mana nak survive, nak lepas cut off
point required by JPA semua. What can I say that A-Level is exam-oriented. The
questions are twisted. Masa yg diberi nak complete exams tu kira mcm cukup
cukup je, kira hebat, kalau siap awal, then sempat semak banyak kali. You have
to think fast, kalau tak mmg tak sempat habiskan soalan. You belajar sikit je,
you have to practice nak apply all the knowledge on the question. It’s unlike
SPM, tu yg belajar tu yg keluar. By the way, for dentistry yg nak ke India, you
have to take Physics, Chem, Biology. Maths boleh drop, but then Maths antara
senang nak score, so better don’t. Nak selamat ambil 4 subjects, but JPA kira
points, tgk 3 best subjects je. JPA nak 12 points and above. A 5 points, B 4
points, so on. So korang target lah AAD, ABC, BBB, tu gred cukup cukup je kalau
nak fly.
How to survive A-Level? Past year, past year, past year.
Korang ambil a-level ni je lah yg disuruh buat. Bukan hafal tau soalan, jawapan
dia. Bagus juga kalau korang ingat jawapan especially paper 1 because 30-40 %
of 40 questions mmg come from past years. What I mean is korang dah study
coursebook, buat notes, dah faham concept baru boleh buat past year. Past year
ni bukan utk dihafal mark scheme dia ke, It’s for your mind exercise. Practice
mcm mana nak fikir, and apply the concept accurately. This is for AS Level. If
you have a good memory sampai boleh ingat mark scheme kat belakang, it’s an advantage.
The main point is kena faham betul-betul. Kalau korang rasa Bio, Chemistry SPM
dulu mmg boleh hafal je, once you take A-Level, it will change your perception.
For A2 Level, if you take 1.5 years A-Level course, you better be careful.
Jangan main, berhibur banyak sangat, kelak menyesal. A2 Level lagi banyak topik
nak cover. Ringkasnya lah, A2 Level ni, soalan dia direct sikit, banyak
menghafal. Fokus dlm kelas, rajin, buat past years, pandai bahagi masa, rajin
bincang, consult dgn lecturers, pray a lot. That’s all. Lecturer kat sini
friendly, you can come up to them whenever they’re free.
Untuk aktiviti kerohanian, we have usrah here. Sometimes
akak usrah datang once a week. Meh ler join haha for those yg biasa duduk
asrama, maybe dah biasa aktiviti aktiviti macam ni. Tak wajib pun pergi tapi
utk menopup keimanan, berkongsi ilmu, digalakkan lah join. Don’t worry korang masih
terjaga kat sini.
After I’ve completed my A level 1.5 yrs course, here’s what
I have to say. When I first came here, I can’t help myself from thinking euw
tak cantik lah kolej ni, apalah nasib dapat kolej kat hutan, facilities biasa
biasa je, something like that. Maybe you will too. But later on, you will get
used to it, and accept the reality. The important thing is niat. Focus on your
studies. Bila boring, stress, kitorang senior almost every week keluar jalan
jalan. Elaun gais elaun. Korang akan rasa okay je stay kat kolej ni. 1.5 years
is actually short. That’s all. Thanks for reading.
