A-level German (ALG)

Assalamualaikum and hi! The name given is Muhammad Izzizi bin Iz or in Samura they called me Butane. I think it's not necessary for me to explain about Intec as Soker has already explained about it. So basically I'll be focusing more about the programme. But before that, I'm a JPA scholar not a JPA-MARA scholar. Have you ever wonder, why Intec? Why not Taylor or Sunway College or other colleges. Well it simply because the ALG programme is slightly different from other A-level programmes and only some colleges offer this programme.

INTRODUCTION

Advanced Level, or more commonly known as A-level is a school leaving qualification offered by educational bodies in the United Kingdom and the British Crown dependencies to students completing secondary or pre-university education.

  A Levels are generally worked towards over two years and split into two parts, with one part studied in each year. The first part is known as the Advanced Subsidiary Level (AS Level acronym was previously used for the separate Advanced Supplementary Level qualification). The second part is known as the A2 Level and is more in depth and academically rigorous than the AS Level. The AS Level is a qualification in its own right, and the AS Level combined with the A2 Level forms the complete A Level qualification (source by Wikipedia).

Here at Intec, you guys will undergo about one and a half year course to sit for the Cambridge International Advanced Level Examination. Before this the students will sit for the Edexcel Advanced Level Examination but recently Intec has changed the examination board to CIE.

THE SYLLABUS

ALG programme is an engineering major course and no other than that. You guys will learn Physics, Chemistry, Core Maths, Mechanics and of course German Language or we call it Deutsch. 

The Common European Framework divides learners into three broad divisions which can be divided into six levels:

Basic Speaker A1 Breakthrough or beginner A2 Waystage or elementary Independent Speaker B1 Threshold or intermediate B2 Vantage or upper intermediate Proficient Speaker C1 Effective Operational Proficiency or advanced C2 Mastery or proficiency

During the language course, you'll have to sit for exams until B2 level throughout one and a half year at Intec and AS German language examination. For the C1 and C2 levels, you'll be learning after your A-level exams in Germany for 4-5 months. Did I mention the passing marks are 70%? Chill, you might think that it's very hard to master this language especially when you watched a video that compared Deutsch with other languages. Lol!! As long as you put amount of effort to master Deutsch or any other language, you'll be fine with it :D

PLACEMENT

Intec has signed an MoU with some of the German universities and Fachhochschule, FH. That means you don't need to do application for FH. But if you already have your own choices and want to enter FH other than in the list below, that won't be any problem.
